Call for Papers : COVID-19

HEDN continues the tradition of featuring topics of current interest to our readers. For the next issue, we welcome articles based on research using quantitative, qualitative, historical, or mixed methods on the topic of COVID-19. These may include:

  • Pilot studies looking at the impact of COVID-19 on patients with certain diseases such as heart disease, cancer, etc.
  • Case studies of innovative care strategies.
  • Innovative ideas/projects that challenge prior assumptions as they present new perspectives on nursing practice.
  • Topics that discuss tensions over culture, race, ethnicity, or religion, particularly those that focus on blaming “the other” for disease.
  • Ethical issues related to caring for patients with COVID-19.
  • The relationship of new technologies to patient outcomes and quality of care from a nursing perspective.
  • Recorded interviews of front-line workers.
  • Reviews of Literature.
  • Comparisons with other pandemics.
  • Workforce, workplace and management issues: shortages of staff, equipment provision, organizing Covid-19 clinics and wards
  • Providing care in specific locations and to specific communities, where restrictions on movement apply, refugee camps.

Other questions to consider: How have patients and nurses coped? What are the disparate impacts of this disease? What is the role of government and civil liberties (quarantine)? How has COVID-19 challenged and/or transformed nursing?

Papers should conform to journal guidelines.
